In my personal opinion the film Rubber was the most bizarre and down right disturbing movie I have ever viewed. But for some reason I was not turning away from the picture, a reason behind this may have been the structure that was applied throughout them film. Rubber was obviously a very risky film to even produce, where a tyre have the presence of a serial killing human being. I believe the reason behind why this film may have worked is the use of the screenplay structure. Syd Field who writes "The Foundations of Screen Writing" states The word itself means "to build, or put together," and understanding how it works is essential to the craft of screenwriting. Simply put, structure holds the story together.
Correct structure was vital for a film so bizarre as Rubber, Field also states the importance of the plot point from The Paradigm Worksheet which is any incident, episode or event that hooks into the action and spins it around into another direction; in this case, either Act II or Act III. I believe the plot point in the film rubber was the moment when the tyre " killed its first victims setting up the tyres intentions and them of the whole movie. Whatever someones opinion Rubber was a film that left many wondering what the writers were thinking and who would have the guts to produce such a film.
